Types of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
At Rebrand Software we offer many different types of GUIS. Two standard options are available for most of our brandable software titles:
- Professional - This is the standard windows look with gray buttons and icons on each button. It is similar to the look of many microsoft programs and is our standard option.
- EyeCandy - Our EyeCandy option allows you to choose one of our 36 different existing EyeCandy GUIs and apply it to your software. Please see our EyeCandy GUI page for more information.
We also have two options for custom GUIs, which is what we will discuss on this page:
- Custom EyeCandy GUI - We can create a custom EyeCandy GUI that is exclusive to your company and can be applied to any software you purchase with the EyeCandy upgrade. See below for more information.
- Custom Ultra GUI - Unlike an EyeCandy GUI which is applied to a program's existing interface, an Ultra GUI is actually drawn from scratch by our graphic artist. The results are outstanding: non-square windows, transparency and translucency, animated button transitions, actual animations, essentially anything you can imagine. See below for more information.
Custom EyeCandy GUIs
What are custom EyeCandy GUIs?
An EyeCandy GUI is a "skin" that we have designed in order to be able to apply it to an application and instantly change the look of that application. Our software comes with the option to upgrade to the EyeCandy version and pick one of our 36 existing skins. However, we can also create a custom EyeCandy GUI that is exclusive to your company. Although it is expensive, this custom skin can be applied to any brandable program you purchase and will give your software an exclusive look that no one else will have.
Could you show me how a custom EyeCandy GUI would work?
Absolutely. Click on any of the following thumbnails for a larger view. Essentially, we create images that represent every item that might appear in your programs (buttons, scrollbars, menus, tabs, etc...). Then we create different states for all of those items (normal, mouseover, disabled, highlighted, etc). We program all the images together into a skin, add animations and transitions, and program it to interface with your software.

We then take the skin that we have created and apply it to your program. Every window in your program will take on the appearance of your skin:

I want to reuse my custom EyeCandy GUI on several different programs. How much extra will that cost?
Your custom EyeCandy GUI can be used on any program that has the EyeCandy upgrade ($50 per program), and it can be used on as many programs as you want for no additional charge.
I have purchased programs from you in the past and would like to apply a custom EyeCandy GUI to them now. Is that possible?
Yes. Your programs will need to be the EyeCandy version (not the professional version). Upgrading is $50 per program. All but two of our programs (P2P File Sharing and Color Picker) support customer EyeCandy GUIs.
How much does a custom EyeCandy GUI cost?
Because each EyeCandy GUI is custom built, and is created to your specifications, it is difficult to estimate the cost without discussing the project with you first. In general a custom EyeCandy GUI will be between $1,000 - $3,000, depending on the difficulty. Please Contact Us for a quote. It helps if you have an idea of what type of look you would like. Because each GUI is custom built we can do things like:
- Match your website
- Use a website you like for inspiration
- Make something similar to an existing program
- Follow specific instructions or color schemes
The more specific you are the more accurate we can be with our quote. If you are on a budget we can also suggest ways to keep the cost within your price range. Keep in mind that your custom EyeCandy GUI is reusable, so the price per program goes down the more programs you plan to use it on.
Custom Ultra GUIs
What are custom Ultra GUIs?
If you want your program to stand out from the crowd, our custom Ultra GUI option is the equivalent of driving a Lamborghini. Here are some of the things we can do when we make you a custom Ultra GUI:
- Windows that are any shape you want
- Transparency
- Translucency
- Animated button states
- Custom icons for each button
- Any layout you like
- Animated windows
- Animated items within windows
- Pretty much anything you can think of that can be done with a graphic editor! :)
In addition, an Ultra GUI comes with a custom EyeCandy GUI in order to make message boxes that your program displays match the main program screen. You can use the EyeCandy GUI on any of your other programs that have the EyeCandy upgrade.

I want to reuse my custom Ultra GUI on several different programs. How much extra will that cost?
Ultra GUIs are "program specific", meaning they are designed specifically for a single program. They cannot be used on multiple programs. They do, however, include a custom EyeCandy GUI that can be used on any program you want. In addition, if you want to purchase more than one Ultra GUI we can reuse some of the graphics in order to reduce the price of the second GUI, assuming you want them to be similar.

How much does a custom Ultra GUI cost?
Because each Ultra GUI is custom built, and is created to your specifications, it is difficult to estimate the cost without discussing the project with you first. More complex programs will be more expensive. In general a custom Ultra GUI will be between $5,000 - $15,000+, depending on the difficulty. Please Contact Us for an estimate.
For large projects we will need to schedule a phone call to discuss your ideas. We require payment in full, or verification of identity, before we begin work. In the latter case we require a 50% payment before work begins, and 50% within 10 days of satisfactory completion.
Please let us know which program you are interested in creating an Ultra GUI for, and what you would like for the program to look like. If you on a budget we can also suggest ways to keep the cost within your price range.
In addition to our normal payment methods we also accept payment by check or money order for large projects.
I own software that I had developed or purchased elsewhere. Is it possible to create custom EyeCandy GUIs or Ultra GUIs for non-RebrandSoftware.com products?
That depends. We use ActiveSkin (http://www.softshape.com/software/develop/) in order to create our skins. ActiveSkin is compatible with Visual Basic and C++, but unfortunately it is no longer available for purchase. If you already own ActiveSkin we would be happy to develop GUIs for your software. If you are not already a registered user of ActiveSkin there are two options:
- You can contact the developer of ActiveSkin at the website above to see if they will sell you a copy. We can then create skins that you can integrate into your program.
- We have a developer's license and can therefore work on any Visual Basic program's source code in order to add EyeCandy or Ultra GUI capability. If you are the owner of a program and have the Visual Basic source code please Contact Us.
